the right thing. I don't think you were doing the wrong thing, but I haven't restricted my eating and have "kept the weight off" for 15 years. Normally, I would also recommend a diet to someone first. After they've failed for an entire year though, maybe instead of telling them they won't make it you could try to help them find their own way

more self control) or just not eat so much shit (and also exercise to). You can't "find your own way" to a healthy weight. There's only one way that works, and every other way doesn't last.
