>>502046Hmmm tough question. I like rare combinations and common ones with obscure readings too. Can't say I don't like a kanji, I like all of them.
For example there is 耕耘機
The second is rare, this is an old way to write it, the new is 耕運機
But that's just not the same. The old one gets the feeling of agriculture through so much better
There is 弁. Everyone knows that bento this, bento that. But it's actually three old ones it replaces, so have to know which meaning are you reading (bento is some phonetic foolery by the way)
One of the meanings of ben is valve. The old kanji for this is 瓣
It literally looks like an overhead valve from a car. Can't get more expressive than that. (Although the part that makes it look like doesn't mean that.)
Lots of kanji has cool old backstories, relations and all that. Lots of old chinese stuff too. Sometimes if you know the old forms and the simplified forms of a kanji, you can read chinese texts too. Been reading some history here and there, lots of cool kanji there too. 蒙恬, the king who built the great wall of china
So yeah, cool stuff
I just like all of them equally for the interrelations.
I don't like simplified hanzi tho. Crude, destroys lots of values, and simplification is a mess too. Traditional hanzi is beautiful.
And then, there is japans own kanji, the kokuji. Great stuff!
