Does anyone else find there to be too many idol threads on this board?
I'm not against idol, far from it, actually. I'm probably as much of a fan as anyone else here, and have been for many years. With this said, though, I feel that with the volume of them (probably around 50% of threads on /jp/ or more, I would guess)that the interest is high enough that, especially combined with what gets posted on gn, it could justify having it's own board.
I guess I just feel like it kind of detracts from a wider variety of topics that the board could have. Do idols count as otaku culture? Definitely. Does that mean I think it should be half the board? Probably not.
While it's true that it would probably be considered a niche board, if it's this popular I don't see why that means it shouldn't be able to have one. 4chan has other boards that are niche as well, and it might help to consolidate more specific kinds of posting in particular places.
